TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - Patrick Mikes Jr. has been arrested in connection with his father's disappearance and murder, according to police.
The Troy Police Department announced at a press conference Wednesday night that Mikes Jr. was taken into custody in connection with his father's murder after forensic evidence was reviewed from the Mikes' home.
Police say Mikes Jr. is expected to be arraigned in court Thursday afternoon on open murder charges.
“The DNA blood analysis evidence puts Mr. Mikes Sr.’s blood with his son, Patrick’s, together indicating a struggle ensued between the two of them,” said Captain Robert Redmond, who is with Troy police.
Sources have told Action News that investigators believe Mikes Sr. was killed in the basement of the family home where large amounts of blood were found.
Police now say the father died from blunt force trauma, but have not released details about the weapon.
“I’d like to remind everyone that this remains an ongoing investigation,” said Redmond. “Also the body of Patrick Mikes Sr. has not yet been recovered and his bicycle still remains missing.”
Troy police plan to conduct another search on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
