(WXYZ) - There are new details in the death of a Catholic Central football player who died last month.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner confirms that David Widzinski died of a cardiac arrhythmia.
Widzinski was 16-years-old and a sophomore at Detroit Catholic Central. He passed away in his sleep.
The teenager was a standout football player at Catholic Central. He played middle linebacker for the Shamrocks in the Division I State Championship Game just days before his death.
Widzinski was the leading tackler for Catholic Central in the game with 15 tackles -- the next closest Shamrock had six.
