(WXYZ) - The 7 Action News team has learned several people inside Detroit city hall may take off if there's a state takeover and it includes city council members.
The decision by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is pending meetings he wants to have with council members and Mayor Dave Bing.
Council Member Gary Brown tells 7 Action News he will not resign his position immediately, but will look at his options. That also includes Council Member Ken Cockrel, Jr.
The pay of city council and the mayor automatically goes to zero next month if there is a takeover. The Emergency Financial Manager can then decide what level of pay and power they have. The Governor had said he will take "a week or so" to meet. That week is over tomorrow.
He has three more weeks by law to make a decision. Council members are also working behind the scenes on a revised consent agreement to present to the governor to try to avoid a takeover.
