(WXYZ) - Monroe native Paul Fales was found in Japan and reunited by phone with his family thanks to a crew from CNN. Fales' parents hadn't heard from him since the earthquake and tsunami hit.

Fales, a recent graduate of Eastern Michigan University, was living and working in Kesennuma, Japan as an English teacher.

His family had not heard from him until CNN correspondent Soledad O’Brien put them in contact live via CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Monday.

Fales says all of his students are okay. He's been staying in a gymnasium with them and their parents, while still helping the kids with their English.
