(WXYZ) - Former Detroit Lion Barry Sanders will grace the cover of the new Madden NFL video game. Madden and EA Sports held a battle between ‘Old School’ and ‘New School’ for the cover of "Madden NFL 25", the 25th edition of the popular NFL video game.
Based on a fan vote, Barry Sanders won the ‘Old School’ bracket and then defeated the ‘New School’ winner Adrian Peterson in the finals for the right to be on the cover. This is the second time Sanders has appeared on the cover of the popular game, he was previously on the Madden NFL 2000 cover with John Madden.
This marks the second straight year that a player wearing a Detroit Lions uniform will be on the cover of Madden. Calvin Johnson won the fan vote last year to be on the cover of "Madden NFL 13."
Sanders also joins Denard Robinson as the second football player from the state of Michigan to win an EA Sports fan vote cover contest this year. Robinson won the fan vote to appear as the cover athlete of "NCAA Football 14."
