LAKELAND, Fla. (WXYZ) - We won't know for a few days what Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera look like in the same lineup.

But Fielder already knows.

He put himself on the Tigers in his baseball video game at his home in Florida.

"Me and my boys, we traded me over. It was in MLB 11, we just had to make the trade," Fielder said Monday.

The slugger arrived in camp with his two young sons, around 9 a.m. He made the 35 minute drive while his boys were sleeping.

Fielder and the Tigers position players don't need to report until Friday. The first baseman didn't give an inspiring answer when asked why he came early. It was a simple reason.

"I just wanted to get here. I mean, I didn't have anything else to do," he said with a smile.

Fielder was repeatedly asked about the Cabrera-Fielder combination, to which he gave little insight to. He talked with Cabrera for a moment before he sat down at his locker.

He said there wasn't much to the conversation but "we'll be friends soon."

With a lineup that's expected to produce runs like Mike Ilitch produces Little Caesars pizzas, Fielder was apprehensive to christen it the best in baseball.

"On paper, it looks great," he said of the Tigers roster. "But we gotta do it first."
