The injuries keep piling up.

The Tigers placed reliever Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list before Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

The right-hander is suffering from inflammation in his right elbow. He has not pitched since June 2. The move to the DL wil be retroactive to June 3.

Dotel is 1-2 with a 4.42 ERA in 21 games this season, his first since signing with Detroit this offseason.

The team called up right-hander Luke Putkonen from Triple-A Toledo to take Dotel's roster spot. Putkonen is 2-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 11 appearances with the Mud Hens.

The Tigers have sent a player to the DL nine times this season.
