Detroit Gold Cup hydroplane races return to the Detroit River this weekend

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit River will be buzzing with racing boats all weekend long.

It's the 103rd running of the APBA Gold Cup .

Tens of thousands are expected to line the riverfront to take in one of the oldest races in all of motorsports.

The hydroplanes race at speeds near 200 miles per hour.

Admission to the grandstands for practice and qualifying is free from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday.

Saturday and Sunday general admission tickets will cost $15 to $45.

1:00 pm - 5:00 pm  Testing - All Classes
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm  Unlimited Qualifying for the 103rd APBA Gold Cup
