Enos relishes Central Michigan's invite to Little Caesars Bowl

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Central Michigan head football coach Dan Enos is relishing his opportunity to guide the Chippewas into the Little Caesars Bowl against Western Kentucky on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at Ford Field.

And for good reason, too.

"It is an honor and a privilege to represent Central Michigan and be a part of this bowl game," said Enos at a press conference inside of the Tiger Club at Comerica Park.

"I remember coming to this game in 1997 when it started, and coming in '98 and '99 and I said, 'you know what, I would love to be the head football coach in that bowl some day.' I was a young coach at the time. It's like a dream come true for me."

That dream is now a reality for Enos, who paid his dues as a football assistant at numerous programs before arriving to Mount Pleasant, Mich., to take over as CMU's head coach in 2010.

"Our team is so excited to play here but being from Detroit [makes this very special]. I was born in Detroit, you know, went to high school in Dearborn so this [Little Caesars Bowl] is very dear to my heart [being able to play in] this game" said Enos. "We appreciate the opportunity. We have a lot of players from Southeast Michigan on our team and we recruit this area very hard."

Central Michigan, who finished fourth in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference, has captured one out of three from 2006-2008 when it was known as the Motor City Bowl.

"I'm very excited particularly [for] Central Michigan University and Dan Enos," said Lloyd Carr, who's a former Michigan head football coach and executive member of the Little Caesars Bowl.

"I recruited Dan out of high school, and unfortunately I didn't get him," Carr said with a smile. "He went up to play for coach [George] Perles at Michigan State, but I'm really delighted for him. He's a local guy, a home grown [product] and for his first bowl game to be here I think is really positive."

The Little Caesars Bowl will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN.
