Fans re-live Pistons glory on Dennis Rodman night

The cars streamed in, fans filtered through the doors, waltzing down memory lane, capturing each moment for the ages.  

They made their way to the seats - knowing it was a special night - a night they'll remember forever.

"Growing up as a kid, he was one of my favorite players to watch because he'd dive into the stand to go after all the balls," said Brian Scheuring.

"It's been a while since he's been to the Palace, so we're pretty excited about that," said Kyle Forte

"Didn't want to miss it," said Anthony Simmons.  "I came from Muskegon, MI just to be here for this night."

Dressed in a beautifully handmade be-dazzled Dennis Rodman jersey, Taylor Davenport said, "Dennis Rodman's here, so I wanted to look cool for him."

Taylor's wardrobe was handmade, impressive to say the least, but a handful of fans dug deep in the dresser to find the old Rodman jerseys and tee-shirts from more than 20 years ago, all to recapture - if even for just a brief glimpse - the glory days that defined an era, on the court and off.

"Oh yeah, that's why I'm here," said Jason Hulbert.  "It just takes me back to being in high school.  I remember meeting Dennis Rodman when I was a kid and it was the coolest thing in the world, so to see him out there tonight is going to be great."

Iris Washington was donning a two-sided "Worm" tee-shirt and said, "Very excited.  I'm so proud of him and I'm so glad we're doing this."

Any Detroit athlete will tell you one of the most rewarding aspects of playing in Motown is the ongoing love affair between the fans and the players.  Tonight was further proof that if you leave a legacy of hard work, that love affair will last a lifetime.
