Lions cut Kyle Vanden Bosch and Peterman

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - The changes continue to be made.

The Detroit Lions have released defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and offensive guard Stephen Peterman in an effort to shave some salary from their payroll.

The two moves will save the Lions approximately $8 million as they begin restructuring the roster for the 2013 season.

Vanden Bosch joined the Lions before the 2010 season and instilled a work ethic the organization hopes will last in the year's ahead.  While he played well in spurts during his time with the club, Vanden Bosch never recaptured the strength, speed and agility that made him a Pro Bowler before joining Detroit.

He underwent neck surgery after a 2010 surgery and frequently was held out of practice during the week in an effort to keep him fresh for game days. 

Cutting Peterman will save the Lions $3.2 million in cap room for the upcoming season.

The team is expected to make more moves in order to improve an offensive line that struggled through most of the 2012 season. The Lions also have to deal with getting under the salary cap and expect to make the line younger and cheaper.

Detroit cut ties with wide receiver Titus Young Monday after two years of disciplinary problems, including being suspended for six games last season.
