Lions long snapper Muhlbach selected to Pro Bowl

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Hours after Calvin Johnson left the Detroit Lions without a Pro Bowl representative, another player has been added to the NFC roster.
Long snapper Don Muhlbach will play in his first Pro Bowl, as a result of Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy's selection. McCarthy is coaching the team.
Muhlbach, in his ninth season, is the first Lions specialist who is not a kicker, punter, or return man.
Kicker Jason Hanson released the following statement through the Lions:
“Don is a huge part of my success and a significant part of our kicking game,” said K Jason Hanson. “He is as accurate and consistent as there is in the League. With the field goal process, it all starts with him. He works hard and takes great pride in what he does. This is a great honor for him and is well deserved.”
Muhlbach is celebrated for his velocity and accuracy. This season, he helped Hanson break the team's all-time single-season scoring record.
He snapped 32 field goals and 38 PATs. The pair also connected on 18 field goals of over 40 yards, the second highest total in NFL history.
Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is a Pro Bowl alternative and quarterback Matthew Stafford is also on a long list of quarterback alternatives.
