ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - Lions running back Mikel Leshoure, who's been sitting out since he's rookie season with a torn Achilles tendon, returned to practice to run light drills on Wednesday nearly two weeks after suffering a strained hamstring.
"It felt good man. I got a little individual work in just to, you know, see how things are going," said Leshoure. "After individual [workouts] I got some good conditioning in, and I'm really trying to get out there as soon as possible."
When asked if he could possibly suit up and play in the Lions' third preseason contest against the Raiders in Oakland, Calif., Leshoure shrugged.
"I'm not really sure as far as timetables," said Leshoure. "I just know that I'm getting healthy, I'm feeling better and it's just kind of a day-to-day thing just to see how everything is going."
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz couldn't confirm a specific timetable for Leshoure's return; however, Schwartz said that he's still very confident in Leshoure's abilities as a tailback.
"We've seen in all of our different practices and everything else that he knows exactly what to do," said Schwartz. "We know the instincts will come back. And it's just a matter of being healthy. We've had a lot of players that way, just their health is the reason that's been holding them back and that's been him."
Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford said Leshoure is "anxious to do everything he can to try and get back out [playing games] as soon as he can, and we're anxious to have him [back]."
The Lions travel to Baltimore on Friday, Aug. 17 for their next preseason contest against the Ravens at 8 p.m.
