(WXYZ) - NFL teams can't start signing free agents until next month, but that's not preventing current players from wooing one big name catch to Detroit.
Reggie Bush could be in the market for a new team after spending the past two seasons in Miami.
He gained a new, high-profile Twitter follower in quarterback Matthew Stafford, and Monday morning, wide receiver Nate Burleson had a message for Bush.
On the NFL Network, Burleson was asked which free agent he'd like to see him team pursue. Burleson, who has appeared on ESPN and the NFL Network after working the last two seasons with WXYZ, looked directly into a camera to 'talk to Bush.'
“Reggie Bush, I know you already took your talents to South Beach, come on to Detroit, I know it’s not as sunny, and it might not be the same type of glitz and glamor, but you can do wonders for us," he said.
"If I could get Reggie Bush to Detroit, wow. Watch out."
The Lions find themselves looking for help at running back yet again this offseason. Jahvid Best's career continues to be in jeopardy after concussions sidelined him all season.
Burleson said Bush has a "legend" behind him, talking about the now 28-year old's Heisman-winning efforts at USC. He said the last two seasons proved Bush is still an "elite" back.
