A day after traveling to New York to sit with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and discuss the way he's been perceived and treated by league officials, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh shared his thoughts about the meeting.

The NFL may not want to admit it, but there are different standards for different players.

"You look at Tom Brady," said Ndamukong Suh. "When he gets hit, you always wonder if there's going to be a flag. There are certain things that are called for him that may not be called for other quarterbacks just because of his stature, and that's the same thing with defensive players.

"My hits may look a little bit different because of the type of strength and athleticism I have compared to some of the other defensive lineman.

He did everything he could not to say it himself, but the fact of the matter is, there has never been another defensive tackle in the history of the National Football League that's played with as much physicality, strength and power as Ndamukong Suh does.

That's one of the main topics that needed to be addressed in yesterday's meeting.

"I'm just a different breed," said Suh. "I hate to say that but it's kind of like, no athlete in the NFL is like any other person."

"This is a very physical game," said defensive end Willie Young. "There's nothing about this game that says, 'soft.' If you step on the field, you're free game.

"He's just gotten hit with some calls that you can't say what he did wrong. There's a couple of hits where he splat the dude, and he's gotten the short end of the stick."

After his meeting with Goodell, Suh feels he has a clearer understanding of where the line in the sand is drawn and was happy the commissioner seemed to support his progress as it relates to physical play.

"I'm the type of person that doesn't like to repeat mistakes," said Suh. "That was the main thing that, more or less, he was emphasizing. I haven't really made any of the same mistakes I made in the past, so continue to follow in that trend and you'll be fine."
