Raiola fires back following comments made by anonymous GMs

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - As the Lions prepare for their game at Philadelphia, the big news after practice was Dominic Raiola responding to anonymous comments made by unknown general managers about the Lions progress.

Based on a report in Pro Football Weekly, an unnamed general manager made the following comments about Detroit:

“The one thing that is clear – they are not as close as people have tried to make it seem,” said the GM. “They are a one-dimensional offensive team that if the quarterback (Matthew Stafford) is not on, people are figuring it out. If you take [Calvin] Johnson out of the game, who else do they have that can beat you?

According to the Pro Football Weekly article, general manager Martin Mayhew and head coach Jim Schwartz were called out. The same can be said for the Lions defense.

“Can't comment on anonymous things. I mean, hey, we're 1-3. That's the thing that we are right now, and we need to go win. We’re judged on winning in this league, we’re not judged on popularity contest or what somebody says under the cloak of anonymity,” said Schwartz. “We’re judged by the number of games we win over the course of 16 games and we’re a 1-3 team that’s looking for a win."

Raiola shook his head when asked about what he thinks of the situation.

"It's kind of a cowardly act, you know, to be unnamed," said Raiola. "Why don't you come out and say who you are? To keep it anonymous that's fine. Like I said, #$%& them."

The Lions will travel to Philadelphia on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kick off at Lincoln Financial Field.
