ALLEN PARK, Mich. - The Lions have reportedly made a contract offer to free agent running back Ryan Grant.

Grant spent the first five seasons of his career with the Lions NFC North rival Green Bay Packers, where he amassed two straight 1,200 yard seasons in 2008 and 2009.

Grant missed the 2010 season, when Green Bay won the Super Bowl, after injuring his ankle in the season opener.

In 2011, he led the Packers with 134 carries, gaining 559 yards and two touchdowns.

The running back was an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame.

Running back continues to be a position of question for the Lions, with Jahvid Best returning from concussion problems, Mikel Leshoure returning from a torn Achilles, and Kevin Smith recovering from several injuries from last season. Leshoure also faces suspension or discipline for legal incidents this spring.

The team's organized team activities begin May 21.
