US Army Staff Sargeant Travis Mills visits with Lions players after the team's practice in Allen Park - October 10, 2012

US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, who lost a portion of all four limbs while deployed in Afghanistan, lifted the spirits of Lions players as he visited practice Wednesday afternoon.
The 25 year-old Mills fell victim to an improvised explosive device on April 10, just four days before his birthday. He work up on his birthday and has shown incredible courage and perseverance throughout his rehabilitation.
Mills was able to watch today's practice and then visited with the players as they walked off the field. Among those who stopped to talk with Mills were Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Cliff Avril, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jason Hanson, Louis Delmas, Kris Durham and Dylan Gandy.
I've never witnessed someone who has lost so much provide so much positive energy to a group of people. Mills had the players laughing and bending over at the waist with his sense of humor and sharp wit. He convinced them the prosthetic on his left hand was voice activated and joked when it "didn't work" that it only responded to very masculine tones.
Alas, the prosthetic responds to his muscular movement and isn't voice-activated at all, but his act certainly elicited a few chuckles. Be sure to watch the video attached for a sample of Staff Sergeant Mills' visit.
