(WXYZ) - The Red Wings signed Jonas Gustavsson to be their backup goaltender this season, and for the first time since the second game of the season, that's what he'll be Tuesday night in Nashville.
Gustavsson was recalled after a weekend conditioning stint with the team's AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.
Rookie goaltender Petr Mrazek was sent down to the Griffins to make room on the roster.
Gustavsson has missed nearly a month with a pulled groin, but is expected to play in the next ten days, when the Red Wings play six games, including a back-to-back games in Los Angeles and San Jose.
He had 26 saves in a Griffins win over the weekend, while Mrazek lost an early lead in Sunday's game against the Wild. The Red Wings fell, 3-2, after holding a 2-0 advantage.
