DETROIT - Ever since the Red Wings signed Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss on July 5, Daniel Cleary's future in Detroit seemed bleak.
Now, it's apparently over.
Cleary has agreed to a three-year, $8.25 million deal, according to multiple reports. Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press first broke the news .
The 34-year old became an unrestricted agent at the end of the 2012-13 season and said multiple times he wanted to remain in Detroit. He skated with the Red Wings the past two weeks, and had a chance to try out at this weekend's training camp.
Cleary reportedly turned down an offer from the Red Wings on July 3 for three years and $5.5 million.
The deal with the Flyers, according to St. James, has a no trade clause.
A member of the 2008 Stanley Cup championship team, Cleary spent eight seasons in Detroit. In 540 games, he scored 119 goals, 146 assists, and 265 points.
Last season, he scored nine goals and six assists with a plus/minus rating of minus-six.
