DETROIT (WXYZ) - Red Wings veteran Todd Bertuzzi will return to Detroit's lineup before the team faces off against the Ducks in Game 2 of its Western Conference quarterfinals in Anaheim, Calif., tonight.
Bertuzzi, who has been nursing a bad back and nerve pain in his right leg since Feb. 7, will play on the Wings fourth line with Patrick Eaves and Cory Emmerton.
"When he plays well, he's a big man with good hands," said Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock after the morning skate around.
"We need him to take care of the puck and be on the forecheck and grind down low is what we need him to do. He hasn't played all year. It's going to be a tough thing for him, no question about it. He's got to help us."
Aside from Bertuzzi playing in the Western Conference quarterfinals, one of his biggest challenges will be adjusting to the style of play from new line mates.
"Three-on-three maybe, I don't think he passed me the puck ever," Emmerton told ESPN.com. "He's obviously been a great player for a long time. The biggest thing for him is he's such an imposing presence on the ice, it makes it difficult for the other team's D and he plays hard. He'll definitely help, he'll be a different look for us."
