Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard suffered a broken finger in Thursday's loss to the Canucks and is expected to miss two games.
Howard sustained the injury on his right hand in the third period of a 4-3 shootout win. He finished the game in net and held the Canucks scoreless in the shootout.
Joey MacDonald has been recalled from Grand Rapids to fill Howard's spot on the roster.
Ty Conklin is expected to start in net as the Red Wings play Saturday night in Edmonton against the Oilers and travel to Phoenix to face the Coyotes on Monday night.
