"K9" loses IBF junior middleweight belt in split decision to Smith

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit's very own Cornelius "K9" Bundrage, who had the IBF junior middle weight belt, lost a split decision of 12 rounds to Ishe Smith (25-5) from Las Vegas in the main event of Showtime's boxing card on Saturday.

"Ishe fought a good fight," said Bundrage, 39, at the Masonic Temple Theater. "He won it fair and square. I didn't follow the instructions of my corner." 

Three scorecards had the following information:

116-111 Smith

114-113 Bundrage

116-111 Smith

It was the first fight in Motown for Bundrage (32-5) since 2005.

J'Leon Love, who's from Detroit, defeated Derrick Findley after a 10-round unanimous decision. Love is able to improve his record to 15-0.
