ALLEN PARK (WXYZ) - The Lions confirmed with 7 Actions Sports that Ronnell Lewis, a Lions rookie defensive end, has been taken off the physically unable to perform list on Saturday, July 28.
"Ronnell was fighting some back tightness, so we just wanted to make sure nothing is there," Jim Schwartz, the Lions head coach, said.
Lewis, who played for the Oklahoma Sooners while earning the nickname The Hammer for his defensive hits, was selected by Detroit in the fourth-round - 125th overall - of the NFL draft.
During Lewis' collegiate days in Norman, Okla., he ranked sixth on the Sooners with 59 tackles, and second with 13 tackles for loss. He was also named first team All-Big 12.
