WALLED LAKE, Mich. - Brother Rice used a strong running attack to beat Walled Lake Western, 42-12, in the Meijer Game of the Week.

Brian Walker scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and Sergio Perkovic caught two touchdown passes in the Warriors lopsided win.

Walker scored 5:44 into the game on a two-yard carry, but momentum swung in Walled Lake Western's direction soon after.

Kyle Bambard hit a 46-yard field goal and Walled Lake forced a safety 56 seconds into the second quarter to cut the deficit to 7-5. But Brother Rice would score the next 28 points.

Greg Marzec rumbled for 67-yard pickup on Brother Rice's next possession, and Brian Walker pounded it in from one yard out to put the Warriors up 14-5.

Shon Powell put Rice ahead 21-5 on a 56-yard touchdown and quarterback Cheyne Lacanaria found Perkovic from 25 yards out to extend the lead to 28-5.

The Warriors took a 35-5 advantage into halftime.

Brother Rice's only score in the second half came on a botched field goal attempt. Quarterback and holder Alex Malzone scooped up the loose ball and threw it to Perkovic.

The Warriors advance to the semifinals and will face Wyandotte Roosevelt. The Bears beat Oak Park, 10-6 Friday night.
