EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University put together a strong recruiting class this year that ranks in the top-40 with 18 commitments.
Michigan State's class ranks No. 35 according to ESPN and No. 39 according to Rivals.
State's top recruit is 4-star linebacker Shane Jones out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Jones is a top-300 ESPN recruit and one of the top linebackers in the nation.
Adding to their strong linebacking group is 4-star Jon Reschke of Brother Rice.
Both linebackers have good size (6'1" 220 for Jones and 6'2" 230 for Reschke) and move well with great instincts for the ball. Neither is expected to start right away because of Michigan State's depth at the linebacker position. Both players add to that depth and the ability for the Spartans to continue to reload under Defensive Coordinator Pat Narduzzi
Michigan State may have found their quarterback of the future in Pennsylvania duel-threat Damion Terry. Terry is a 4-star prospect who is ranked in the top-15 among duel-threat quarterbacks. Terry is not expected to win the starting job next season against Andrew Maxwell and Connor Cook, but he does give State a strong future quarterback to groom.
