(WXYZ) - Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell didn't have to wait long to hear his name called on Day Two of the NFL Draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers used their second round selection to pick Bell 48th overall.
Bell had a successful career at Michigan State, including a slew of games in 2012 that turned heads around the nation.
Last season, he had 382 carries for 1,793 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Spartans.
Bell joins a crowded group of Steelers running backs. Pittsburgh has Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and LaRod Stephens-Howling under contract, but was plagued by injuries in the backfield last year.
Longtime Steelers running back and Detroit native Jerome Bettis posted a tweet soon after the pick:
"Congrats Le'Veon Bell welcome to the @Steelers!! The steel city loves big backs!! Believe me!"
Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio sent out well wishes on his Twitter account:
"Congratulations Le'Veon Bell! Pittsburgh Steelers / 48th pick. Will miss you but ALL the BEST. You will be a Great one!#SteelerFan"
