Mikael Samuelsson will reportedly return to the Red Wings in time for their 6 p.m. face off against Minnesota on Sunday at Xcel Energy Center. Samuelsson has missed several games with a groin injury.
Samuelsson's teammate Pavel Datsyuk returned to practice on Saturday after sitting out the game against Anaheim with a bruised shoulder.
The Wings announced that they have placed forward John Franzen on injured reserve. They also removed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson from injured reserve and assigned him to Grand Rapids on a conditioning loan.
Franzen has missed Detroit's last two games with a hip injury.
