The Orlando Magic have agreed to a two-year, five million dollar deal with former Piston forward Jason Maxiell, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The first year of the deal is guaranteed, while the Magic hold a team option for the 2014-2015 season.
The eight-year veteran was drafted by Detroit in 2005 with the 26th overall pick and was a reliable player down low for the Pistons, primarily coming off the bench.
The Pistons seemingly had no room left for the PF/C out of the University of Cincinnati with the recent acquisitions of Josh Smith and Luigi Datome.
Maxiell averages 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for his career, but the 30-year-old big is heading to Orlando after a year in which he averaged 5.7 rebounds per game, a career high.
He’s the only free agent the Magic have signed this offseason.
