DETROIT - Brian Lashoff has made the most of his chance with the Red Wings this year, and Monday, signed a three-year extension with the team.
The 22-year old signed with Detroit in 2008 as an undrafted free agent. He was playing under the final year of his entry-level deal.
Throughout the season, injuries have kept defensemen Carlo Colaiacovo, Kyle Quincey, Jonathan Ericsson, Jakub Kindl, Brendan Smith, and Ian White off the ice at various points.
Lashoff has benefited from the open lineup, totaling a goal and two assists while playing in 15 of the Red Wings 19 games thus far.
In his 125-game career with the team's AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, Lashoff has nine 9 goals and 20 assists.
