(WXYZ) - The Pistons have reportedly decided to keep Rodney Stuckey on the payroll for the final year of his contract.
Previous reports indicated the Pistons would be moving on without the combo guard, but instead they will pay him the $8.5 million he is owed for the 2013-2014 season.
Free agency rumors have also linked the Pistons to well-known NBA starters J.R. Smith and Andre Iguodala, so there are no guarantees Stuckey will begin the season as the starting shooting-guard.
Stuckey's stay, and expiring contract, could also give the Pistons another tradeable asset when the February trade deadline approaches.
Stuckey had a partially non-guaranteed contract for the upcoming season, which would have allowed the Pistons to buy him out for $4 million dollars.
