Tigers radio color analyst Jim Price will miss the team's next nine games, as the team said he did not make the west coast trip Monday.

The 70-year old former Tiger beat cancer in the offseason. With the team traveling for much of the current month, the organization requested he stay home to ensure he stays fresh.

Last month, he missed a road trip because of flu-like symptoms.

Former pitcher Dan Petry will fill in for Price during the nine-game trip.

Price will return to broadcasts May 16, when the Tigers come home to face the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park.

Price has been a part of Tigers broadcasts for 20 years.
