LAKELAND, Fla. (WXYZ) - When Justin Verlander arrived to Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Fla., on Monday he told reporters that he will not accept an invitation to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.
"I don't want to have to feel rushed to catch up to where I need to be," Verlander said.
It's understandable for Verlander not to take part in the WBC, especially after 266 innings of baseball last season.
One of the major concerns for players participating in the WBC is that it will conflict with spring training exhibition games.
Team USA is scheduled to play in the WBC March 8-10.
