NEW YORK (WXYZ) - The Tigers Ace was busy over the weekend in N.Y. Besides starting a no-decision in a cold Friday night loss to the Yankees, he was seen surprising unsuspecting fans around the city.
11-year-old Shayna "Verlander" Hersh was one such fan.
According to MLB.com Shayna's father Joel received a call from the Tigers saying they'd like to fly the fifth grade super fan, who is battling cystic fibrosis, to New York to watch Verlander start at Yankee Stadium and visit the MLB Fan Cave.
It was at the Fan Cave the Verlander surprised the little girl. You can watch her reaction and their time hanging out in the video player below.
