ASHLAND, Ohio - The Wayne State women's basketball team won its first NCAA Tournament game Friday, beating Findlay 63-58.
The Warriors, the sixth seed in the Midwest region of the Division II Tournament, were led by Juanita Cochran, Phaebre Colbert, and Lena Thomas. All three players scored 15 points in the first round game in the upset over the third seed, Findlay.
This tournament appearance is the second in the Wayne State women's program history.
The Warriors are 20-8 with a chance to move onto the Sweet 16. They will play the winner of Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis Saturday at 5 p.m. in Ashland, Ohio.
