WXYZ - A major winter storm is moving through the Great Lakes today, tonight and Friday. The heaviest snow in Michigan will be in the northwestern half of lower MI and across the U.P. Across the rest of the country: The Great Lakes storm will stretch south with rain and storms through the Ohio Valley and into the SE United States with severe storms today. In the far northwestern corner of the U.S. rain, snow and wind will slow travel from Seattle to northern California. Much of the nation will have no travel trouble between these two systems.
On Friday, the Great Lakes storm will push showers and thunderstorms through the northeast and southern Florida while leaving snow showers behind in the Ohio Valley and the eastern Great Lakes. The storm in the northwest U.S. will break up some as it slides south a little into more of central and northern California.
