5K Birmingham LUNGevity walk to raise money for lung cancer treatment

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (WXYZ) - Join in battle against lung cancer with a 5K walk in Birmingham.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, "More people in the United States die from lung cancer than any other type of cancer."

Breathe Deep Michigan is LUNGevity's community fundraiser. It's an untimed 5K (3.1 miles) walk to raise money for lung cancer research. The walk is Saturday, May 4 at Booth Park in Birmingham. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

People are welcome to bring pets, strollers and wheelchairs to the walk. There will be free refreshments, an auction and face-painting.

The Ann Arbor walk is Sunday April 7 at Ingalls Mall. That walk is at 12:30 p.m.

The walks will take place rain or shine.
