DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Keegan Key, co-star of Comedy Central's "Key and Peele" is the keynote speaker at the 10th annual Images and Perceptions Diversity Conference, "Empowering our Nation by Engaging Communities."
The event will take place on Thursday, April 11.
Key is a native Detroiter who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has been featured on the cover of The New York Times Magazine.
The Conference discusses the diversity within and contributions of the Arab American, African American and Hispanic American communities. It also examines media portrayals of these groups and the implications for their roles in government, business and education.
Other speakers include Haaz Sleiman of Oscar and Screen Actors Guild Award Nominated film "The Visitor" and Professor of Iranian and Central Asian History, and Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations John Woods. He teaches at the University of Chicago.
The Conference is at the Byblos Banquet Center in Dearborn. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You have to register to attend the event. Individual registration is $125 and student registration is $35.
Educators who attend can earn five State Continuing Educating Clock Hours.
Registration includes breakfast, lunch, conference materials and all conference presentations.
