DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Historical Museum in Midtown and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle are extending their hours and offering special programs for the holiday season. Both museums will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Jan. 5.
The Dossin Great Lakes Museum will open on weekdays for the first time in years for their "Noon Year's Eve" event. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on New Year's Eve, there will be snacks and crafts for families to ring in 2014.
The Detroit Historical Museum will screen "The Story of Hudson's" everyday during the holidays at 1 p.m. The film documents the history and traditions of the old downtown Hudson's department store. Other exhibits such as "Riding the Rails" will be open as well for spectators.
The museums will close for New Year's Day. There is no charge for admission to the museums. For more information on the events, visit http://detroithistorical.org .
