PONTIAC (WXYZ) - When water pipes burst inside WHRC elementary in Pontiac over the holiday break, most of the school supplies inside were destroyed. However, an effort is now underway to help the students get some basic needs.
Marsha Harris is a former Pontiac teacher who felt compelled to do something for the kids.
Marsha says, "I just wanted to make sure the kids had what they needed during this transition."
She is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday at the Pontiac High School from 9am-2pm. Volunteers are welcome to show up and lend a hand. They will be collecting all items but really need things like, pencils, pens, crayons, paper, books, notebooks and colored paper.
In addition to the Pontiac fundraiser, the Bloomfield Hills PTO Community Service council is having a fundraiser up until Wednesday January 29th. They are collecting items at the Doyle Center.
