What's happening Around Town this Labor Day weekend

(WXYZ) - It will be a busy Labor Day around town this weekend, with many fun events and parades scheduled for the holiday weekend.

Here's a look at some of the festivities:

Parades:

  • Detroit Labor Day Parade along Michigan Avenue and Washington Boulevard at 9:00 am. The parade ends at the UAW-Ford National Programs Center
  • Hamtramck Polish Day Parade begins at 1:30 pm

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival

The Polish capital of metro Detroit will be alive with pierogi's and Polish dancers at the annual  Hamtramck Labor Day Festival . It will also feature rides, music and Polish dancing.

Michigan State Fair

The Michigan State Fair  returns better than ever at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. It will feature livestock contests and demonstrations, as well as performances by the Shrine Circus.

Detroit Jazz Festival

Jazz music will return to the riverfront Downtown with the Detroit Jazz Festival , which runs Friday through Sunday from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius Park. The free event will feature four stages of entertainment. 

Arts, Beats & Eats Festival

Taking over the streets of Royal Oak, Arts Beats and Eats will run Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. It will feature music, food and arts displays.

Michigan Renaissance Festival

It's like Ye Olden Times in Holly as the Michigan Renaissance Festival is taking place through September 27. In addition to the normal activities, attendees this weekend will be able to taken part in the High Seas Adventure theme, which includes Arm wrestling, Press-A-Wench and a Beard Competition.
