(WXYZ) - Cedar Point has announced they will be adding two new family rides for the upcoming 2014 season.
The new rides will be named Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles. They will be located along the Gemini Midway, near the popular double roller coaster.
Pipe Scream will be a Disk'O Coaster, a ride that combines a roller coaster and a spinning ride. It will spin riders along 302 feet of track, taking them 43 feet above the midway at a top speed of 43 mph.
Pipe Scream will be right across from Lake Erie Eagles, a Flying Scooters ride that is a return to the classic thrill rides of Cedar Point's past.
Lake Erie Eagles will feature 8 carriages that will be suspended from arms that are more than 28 feet in the air. As the ride spins, the carriages will swing outward, giving riders the sensation of flight. A paddle on each carriage will then give riders the opportunity to control the intensity of their ride experience.
In addition to the new rides, Cedar Point also announced changes to Camp Snoopy, the park's children's area. These changes will include the relocation and renaming of the Frog Hopper, which will be re-themed as Woodstock's Airmail.
Also being added to Camp Snoopy will be the Jr. Gemini roller coaster, which will have it's entrance moved and will be renamed Wilderness Run.
The addition of Woodstock's Airmail and Wilderness Run will bring a total of 9 rides into the Camp Snoopy area.
Cedar Point is also making some changes outside of the park, announcing a two year renovation at the Hotel Breakers.
Phase one will include upgrades to the exterior of the hotel. Phase two, which will take place over the 2014-2015 winter shutdown, will feature upgrades to both the interior and exterior of the hotel.
