HUGH JACKMAN fans helped the actor raise $1.85 million (GBP1.2 million) on his birthday on Saturday (12Oct13) by paying to see him chat and perform in Hollywood.
The actor took over the Dolby Theater, where the Oscars are staged annually, to bring his critically acclaimed one-man show from Broadway to Tinseltown.
The charity gig, held to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund, was held on the movie star's 45th birthday.
He joked, "This is probably the most narcissistic way to spend your birthday. I chose my favorite songs and told stories about my life."
Jackman, who was backed by a 17-piece orchestra, performed show tunes and shared personal anecdotes about his life in the spotlight.
Cybill Shepherd and Darren Criss were among the celebrities who turned out to see Jackman in concert. The show ended with the birthday boy auctioning off an electric car, a pair of Wolverine claws and two undershirts he wore during the performance. The shirts went for $11,000 (GBP7,300) each, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
