Cedar Point unveils new wing roller coaster named 'Gatekeeper'

(WXYZ) - In a ceremony at the gates to the park, Cedar Point has unveiled a news winged roller coaster.

The ride will be similar to one that debuted earlier this year at Six Flags Great America. That park is located just outside of Chicago.

Gatekeeper will be ready to roar in 2013 and will be part of a larger revamp that will include a redesign of the park's entrance plaza.

The ride will have a record breaking 164 foot drop.

Cedar Point has been teasing park fans about the new ride by releasing cryptic details and clues on their official blog.

Gatekeeper will be built where Disaster Transport and the Space Spiral are located.

Earlier this year Cedar Point announced they would cease operation to make way for a new attraction.

Disaster Transport has already been shutdown and is in the process of being demolished. Space Spiral will continue to operate through Labor Day, when it will then be shut down.
