How much do retirement communities cost?

Retirement community costs vary with location and services offered. When a facility includes independent living as well as skilled nursing units, a range of prices is usually available. For real estate with no additional services, the fees are solely for housing, and range from 600 to twelve hundred dollars. For congregate care facilities, which offer meals, transportation, and housekeeping and are usually equipped with emergency pull cords in every unit, the cost is usually between fourteen hundred and two thousand dollars per month. Assisted living facilities, which offer basic and instrumental services such as bathing, feeding, and money management, are a more expensive option. This type of facility's expense ranges from twenty-four hundred to three thousand dollars a month. Although expensive, many seniors seem to prefer assisted living facilities over nursing homes for the independence offered. It's important to note that, in general, the communities discussed don't include skilled medical care on-site, relying on nearby medical facilities instead.
