DETROIT (WXYZ) - The North American International Auto Show is still more than two months away, but organizers are already planning for the Charity Preview with a big announcement on the musical act for this year's event.
7 Action News has the exclusive details.
She's a nine-time Grammy award winner. Before that, this artist sang back-up for Michael Jackson and Rod Stewart, but come Friday January 17th, she'll be live at Cobo Center rocking the car crowd.
"This is the 25th anniversary of the North American International Auto Show, it's my show and we wanted to put it over the top, so I said we got to get the best," says co-chair Bob Shuman.
It will be hard to upstage the 700 cars, the dozens of new reveals and the new Cobo Center, but this act is sure to impress. Winning Grammys for the Best New Artist in 1995 and Best Rock Album in 1996, Sheryl Crow will appeal to the Detroit Rock City crowd and help bring in more money. Last year, the Charity Preview raised $3.9 million for local children's charities.
"This year we're hoping to eclipse that and get up to $4 million," says Scott LaRiche, NAIAS co-chair.
Crow will perform in the new Cobo atrium immediately following the Charity Preview. Fifty Amp Fuse will also be performing at the Charity Preview.
Tickets for the show, including Sheryl Crow are already on sale. Click here to access the NAIAS site .
