Uber car service announces free Detroit auto show rides in Cadillacs

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Uber, the app-powered car service, says they've partnered with Cadillac to offer free rides during the auto show's press days, supplier days and the Charity Preview gala.

Journalists covering the North American International Auto Show and others working at the show can use the Uber app on their smartphones to request a car and driver.

Uber says the free Cadillacs will be available only to transport riders in and around downtown Detroit, Corktown and Midtown. They say free rides are limited to fifteen minutes.

If you try the service, you'll be greeted with either a 2014 Cadillac Escalade or SRX. They say rides will be completely free and there will be no need to tip your driver.

You'll need to "toggle over and select the 'Cadillac' option" when using the Uber app.
