DETROIT (WXYZ) - Pretty much every one of the thousands of journalists inside Cobo Center could hear the newest Chevy supercar as it made its debut this morning. The 2015 Corvette Z06 drove out with a thunderous roar.
The new Corvette was touted as "our most capable Corvette ever," by the automaker. And why wouldn't it be? This souped up version of the popular sports car packs some impressive numbers.
The engine behind that roar brings more than 625 horsepower. It boasts 635 ft. lbs. of torque.
This Corvette's slower, but still-impressive, brother - the Stingray - was a hit at last year's North American International Auto Show. This year, i t was named North American Car of the Year by a panel of journalists.
