Cobo renovations on track for 2013 Auto Show

(WXYZ) - The frame is up for the new atrium and riverfront entrance to Cobo Center.

North American International Auto Show Chairman Jim Seavitt tells Action News that the work will be finished in time for the January event.  Seavitt tells us "We are moving the ribbon cutting from the basement out into the atrium."

Seavitt is expecting even better attendance for the 2013 show. Last year, the auto show drew 740,000 visitors. They are projecting 800,000 will check out the latest that the industry has to offer.

General Motors will be unveiling its redesigned Corvette, as well as the latest version of the popular Silverado pick-up truck. Ford is expected to reveal its new Lincoln models, as it speeds to revive the luxury brand.

Organizers are so revved about the 2013 show that they are now selling tickets to the Charity Preview event. Tickets are $300 a piece and virtually all of the proceeds will go to 10 local children's charities.
