General Motors to add 1,500 new high-tech jobs in Warren

(WXYZ) - General Motors is expected to hire 1,500 high-tech employees for an Information Technology Innovation Center in Warren according to a press release by the company Monday.

"We're currently seeking the next generation of game-changers to help us usher in a new age of automotive innovation at GM," said GM Chief Information Officer Randy Mott.

In a press conference Monday morning Governor Snyder commented on the hiring of employees saying talent would be heavily recruited from Michigan universities.

"Our strength in engineering, research and development is a core Michigan asset that will mean good jobs in an innovative and exciting industry for all who pursue careers in scientific and technology fields.  We as a state, and we as parents, must commit to training our kids to do these jobs.

GM recruiters are visiting college campuses this fall and participating in local job fairs targeting IT professionals.

Available positions will include software development, project management, database management and business analysis.

This project is the first of three expected to result in the creation of 2,000 jobs in Michigan. GM will invest up to $300 million for all combined projects.

For more information and to apply for one of these positions, potential job candidates can visit GM's career website.
